CDG 2004 and ADR Ch 8.2 state that Drivers of certain types of vehicles carrying Dangerous Goods, above specified limits, must receive training on an approved ADR Driver course. This ends with examinations set by City and Guilds. |

Course Content |

|
The course
is modularised according to the type of goods being moved as follows: |

| Core | All Drivers must attend this module which covers basic awareness of Dangerous Goods, Procedures and dealing with Emergencies. |
| Tankers | For Drivers moving Dangerous Goods in Tanks or Tank Containers. |
| Packages | For Drivers moving Dangerous Goods in Packages. |
| Classes | Dependant on the type of goods being moved. Most Drivers take 7 Classes. Explosive and Radioactive classes have separate, more detailed, requirements. |

Training Method |
Classroom
based, with a significant amount of delegate participation. The training
includes LCD Projector and video presentations incorporating role play
exercises. The course finishes with City and Guilds multiple choice examinations. |

Location Requirement |
Courses
can be carried out at customer's premises, where a suitable training room
is required. A large open area for practical fire extinguisher discharge is also needed. |

Course duration |
Depending
on modules. Typical examples: Petroleum Tanker Driver 3 days. General Haulage Driver Packages 4 days. Full Course, Tanks and Packages 5 days. |

The course
maximum is 16 delegates. |

Certification |
On successful
completion a Vocational Training (ADR) Certificate, valid for 5 years,
is issued. |
